Introduction

During spring break, my mother and I went to visit my family who lived in Arizona. It was the first time I had visited there since I was a very young kid. It was a 2 1/2 hour flight which was not that bad. Noticing the temperature change when we landed on the runway was crazy to me because it was so cold in Atlanta, GA and it was hot and humid in Tucson, AZ. My aunt picked us up from the airport late at night. It was cool to see how some of the roads were not lined with street lights due to the nature being preserved for the animals. I know if I was driving, it would be very difficult for me.

We stayed at my grandfathers house while he was away in Ohio. Throughout the hot summer years, he rents out his home to tourists and he allowed us to stay at his place for a week. It was a small but cute house decorated to show the beauty of Arizona. Walking out into the backyard, you had to be careful and watch out for scorpions and spiders that could be wandering around on the patio. Behind the fence you could look straight out and see the mountains and watch beautiful sunsets. Within walking distance to the house, my mother and I would walk to starbucks every morning because it was a nice wake up for our brains and the weather was too good to be sitting inside brewing our own coffee.

Sight Seeing

We went on a Sabino Canyon tour. You pay to get into the park and you can either hike the whole trail (which is very long) or you can take a shuttle ride and get a guided tour. Unfortunately, it appears that they are no longer providing shuttle rides. Going up and down through the canyon, you could see wild animals who are running through all of the cacti.
